history of red and yellow cards in soccer

Is the use of red and yellow cards are known as modern football show? The answer is no. Red and yellow cards introduced in the 1970 World Cup. However, his inspiration came at the 1966 World Cup. In the quarter-final between host Argentina versus England. The referee who led the match came from Germany, namely Rudolf Kreitlein.

For a foul hard, Argentine captain, Antonio Rattin, issued by Kreitlein. However, Rattin not understand what was meant by the German referee. He did not immediately leave the field.
English referee who come on duty at the match, Aston Kn, then go into the field. With a little Spanish capital, he seduced Rattin to leave the field. Because, who led the match referee, Rudolf Kreitlein, decided so. Because just knowing German and English, he had trouble explaining his decision to Rattin.
Because of this case, Ken Aston later thinking. There should be a universal communication that can be immediately known to all people, when the referee gives a warning to the player or removing it from the field. Thus, umpire without having to make an explanation in a language that may not know the players.
One day, he stopped at traffic lights. Looking at traffic light (red light), he then got the idea. Then he suggested that the referee provided yellow and red cards. Yellow card to warn of harsh or mild penalties to players who commit violations. While the red card for serious sanctions and gross violations of the players who did it should get out of the field.
The idea was received by FIFA. At the 1970 World Cup, yellow and red cards for the first time used. Ironically, throughout the 1970 World Cup players that none of the red card. Only a yellow card that was posted. Thus, a red card can not be "exhibitionist" in the 1970 World Cup.
Though the idea came from the English referee, but the country does not necessarily apply them in their competition. New red and yellow cards are used in English football competition in 1976.Since then the referee is too easy to eject the card and protest from many players, so its use was discontinued in 1981 and 1987.
Interestingly, this idea was adopted sport hockey. In fact, in this branch using three colors of cards, as traffic light: green, yellow, and red. Green for warning, yellow to issue the player a while, and red to expel the player permanently.
